San Pedro de Atacama was founded in 1450. It is a commune in northern Chile, located in the Province of El Loa, Antofagasta Region, located 2,436 meters above sea level. It has a population of 4,969 inhabitants. It is one of the most visited and attractive destinations in Chile. It is located 1,700 kilometers north of Santiago and is a gateway to the Atacama Desert, the most arid in the world.
