The Torres del Paine National Park is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular natural jewels on the South American continent.
The ride today goes to the western part of the park. From the shores of Lake Gray we will be able to observe the floating ice floes and part of Gray Glacier during a short hike. Then we visit the thundering waterfalls of Salto Grande and Salto Chico, as well as the beautiful Laguna Amarga. On short hikes, you will see the varied fauna of the park, such as guanaco herds, flamingos, rabbits, Ñandus and, condors. You will also observe how the land is healing itself after devasting fires several years ago. After this amazing day’s nature & geologic tour, we drive back to our hotel.
Alternatively, you may take an intensive hike on your own to the base of the Paine towers.
For group of 2 or 3 participants:
Today, your tour guide can take you on an intense hike to the base of the Paine towers, called the “Torres”. The first section consists of an hour’s ascent to the valley of the Asencio River, with magnificent views of the surrounding lakes; then it continues with another one-hour hike through a lenga forest (a beech tree native to the southern Andes) to the lookout facing the granite pillars: the Towers of Paine massif.
If this is too exhausting for you, you can join a group excursion to Lake Gray (not included).
In the evening we drive to Puerto Natales, the small town located on the fjord “Ultima Esperanza”.
